I am Thankful
It’s been a long, eventful year. It’s been one of those years where so much happens, sometimes all at once, that you forget that it’s only been a year. Frankly, it will probably take me a couple of years to recover from this one. But now is the time to be thankful And so I am.
I am thankful for my father, and all of him that I am.
I am thankful for my mother, her strength, her integrity, her caring, and her generosity.
I am thankful for my sister and the woman she has grown in to.
I am thankful for my brother-in-law and know that he will be there for my sister when she needs him.
I am thankful for August thunderstorms.
I am thankful for my best friend, who just finished her bachelors while raising her wonderful son.
I am thankful for stubbornness.
I am thankful for victory.
I am thankful for happy hour, even if I don’t drink.
I am thankful I got to say goodbye.
I am thankful for my grandmother’s long life and peaceful passing.
I am thankful for my aunt, who watched over me when I moved to Maryland and who’s had a rough year of her own.
I am thankful for Groundhog’s Day.
I am thankful for pacemakers and modern medicine.
I am thankful for Hokie Spirit.
I am thankful for the health and safety of my friends.
I am thankful for a job that makes me want to push myself and lets me do just that (even if I sometimes push too hard).
I am thankful for caffeine.
I am thankful for friends and coworkers who worry about me.
I am thankful for my temporary minions, who kept the little things from suddenly becoming big things.
I am thankful for basketball.
I am thankful for Futurama DVD commentaries.
I am thankful to be alive.
