What's This White Stuff Outside My Window?

Oh! Snow! I forgot. It's winter! Temperatures are supposed be at or below freezing, and precipitation is suppose to be in solid form. All those 50 and 60 degree days in January had me all confused.

About 8 inches fell around here, but it rained for much of the day yesterday, so it could have been much worse. They say the storm is over, but I'm still seeing some stray bands on the radar. Maybe that's not reaching the ground. I predict... a delayed opening for work tomorrow, at the very least. Temperatures will start getting into the fifties again toward the middle of the week. That should melt the snow by the weekend, just in time for the next storm system.

One of the forecasters over at Weather Underground tried to de-hype the storm, insisting that 20 inches of snow just wasn't going to happen anywhere, or if it did, it would be in very localized areas. Commenters insisted that it was TOO going to snow that much! Of course, now Central Park, New York City has broken a record (and it's still snowing) and many areas (including Boston) continue to experience blizzard conditions. You just can't win as a forecaster, you know? You scream for everyone to get out of the way, people get mad when it's not that bad. You insist that things won't be that bad, people get mad when it's even worse.
